Well the only thing i could really do with instead is a decent AV amp.. but thats liekly to cost the same (£350 ish) .. but otherwise i am tempted to keep it

Not without receipt i wouldnt think, you could have acquired it by illegal means as far as they know. Just keep it, not much point selling it and getting one in the new year, unless you get the full retail price for it.
