PS3 will be biggest console ever..

Knew about its size a while back.

Yeah just thought the nice pic comparison looked pretty cool - still can't get over the size of the Wii - it really is tiny!! :)

Well I say apparantly, some site I read had the dimensions and it was slightly bigger than the Xbox 1.

Of course, that could be wrong.

I've got my crystal xbox out the other day and put in next to my 360 and the size difference is mad!!

Oh well I won't be buying a PS3 until the price comes down a lot, too much sony hype for my liking.

I predict I will buy one around about the end of 2007 for Christmas maybe.

Fair play - and there'll probably be a slim version by then too :) :p

Yeah exactly, I mean I had a PS2 and an XBOX. I really enjoy my 360 and unless the PS3 is amazing I'm not that interested.

I mean I don't really care about a BLU-RAY player. The only reason the thing is so expensive if because of that player, like any new technology cost will come down.

This is quite funny - there was talk at the time of the Xbox 1's launch that one of the factors it wasn't selling well in Japan was because it was too big and heavy for the likes of the average Japanese' tastes.

Should be interesting to see what happens with the PS3 being bigger than the 360 and more expensive.

Nope, first they will release a nasty silver one, then a slim one... then a nasty silver slim one :p

To be honest the size of a console is probably my lowest concern.

Likewise. I have an Xbox and it won't win any beauty contests but I bought it to play games on, not as an ornament :)

Is funny now looking back at all the comments about how big the xbox1 was compared to the ps2 and now its the other way round, lol - wonder if this is another reason why its not getting much interest by the japanese compared to the tiny wii as we all know the japanese like there gadgets on the small size.

If u think about it the old Xbox is still biger due to the PS3 curved shape hehehe.

Im still surprised its so big tho

Hmmm, but the PS3 is a completely different colour to the 360.

Here's what I think is really going on in Japan...

Whatever %age of Japanese homes have a PS2 sat ontop of a Sony dvd player under a Sony TV plugged into a Sony surround system.

That's a lot of Sony.
What happens is: the more Sony the home has, the greater the Sony[ontrol® becomes.

Sony[ontrol® is emitted in small ammounts by every device they produce. The purpose of Sony[ontrol® is basically to block acceptance of any other manufacturers in the Sony[ontrol®ee's mind.

Sony knew that in order to fit in all of the new features of the PS3 they had to make the console larger than usual. This posed a problem with the Japanese market for them, knowing that consumers there prefer their gaming devices to be small. The solution to this was quite simply to slightly increase the footprint of this machine to house a more powerful Sony[ontrol® transmitter.

'Great, problem soved' they thought while knocking back a few Saki's...
Until Microsoft unleashed the 360.

Now this posed a new challenge as Sony hadn't reckoned on the 360 being quite as large (and rather in-offensively styled)
They had follishly rushed production of the more powerful Sony[ontrol® generation units and the running software was somewhat incomplete.
Testing revealed the latest Sony[ontrol® technology made it easier to accept a more proportionally challenged games console but did not tie this new found plumper appreciation to any single brand.

Of course this could spell disaster as people could play on a PS3, then leave knowing they want a fat console but not know exactly which one the want.
Hence it being the same old colour (but more importantly, a completely different colour to the 360)

I have no idea why I came up with that drivel.
I hate my job.
I want a beer.

according to the dimensions ive come across it is indead bigger then the Xbox - i think we need a new photoshop of the giant truck thing that was moving the xbox but with the PS3
