Abit of background first. I got SFIV for PS3 yesterday and was trying to play my mate. I got so many disconnects, PSN signouts and lag spikes during play it was insane. Wireless signal at 75%.
I have my 360 wireless on SFIV upstairs and that has never gave me a problem. Tried PS3 in same spot and it was the same. Signouts and disconnects. Signal strength was at 80% there.
I then got my PS3 hooked upto my PC monitor and was able to ethernet it. I never got one signout or any lag spikes. It was actually an enjoyable experience. By this time i was only afew metres from the router so tried wireless again. This time signal strength at 100% and still getting signouts.
I did abit of googling and tried different channels to set wireless on. Did not make any difference. I do recall this same thing happening to me before with MGO and the same router i use now. I used a stock Thomson router from AOL which seemed to fix the problem back then. I am now on 02 so not sure if that router will still work. I'm just curious as to why the Netgear router is having problems with PS3 and none on 360. Any specific configs? I have set the recommended MTU size from 02 (Access) of 1492 on router and on PS3.
The model of router is DG834PN. Thanks.
