PS3 with 100gb

I panicked after reading your 1st line!!! Didn't even check dimensions as I assumed all new 2.5 inch drives are 9.5mm. LOL
2.5" drives with three platters are 12.5mm and I thought that drives >250GB would have three platters but it looks like they found a way to get 160GB on a single platter.

So will the new model have all the things the 60gb had?

I want BC along with the other perks:)

Just for those that care, Did the upgrade to 320Gb hardrive.

Very easy and no issues at all.

Took about 1 hour to backup to a USB HDD, 10 minutes to swap the disks, 1 hour to restore the data.

Tested 1 DRM'd HDD game (Warhawk) and one shared game from mates account (Super Stardust HD), both load fine.

I'm off to load Heroes episodes onto the 230 GB of free space.

SIGh double post

Rp2000 joins the PS3 super elite club, I still got over 100GB left i my 160 gig drive, I still might get a bigger one ready for play TV.

Whats the hard disc like noise wise rp2000, is more audiable than the standard one?

Looking to upgrade myself soon, just got to decide on a disc.

I could not hear the old one, and I cannot hear the new one (I sit about 6-7 feet from the ps3. If it was audible I would notice.

During the backup from old hdd I did not hear it copy 32 GB of data, just as I did not hear it copy it back to the new drive. However the PS3 fans were on and the 3.5 HDD I was copying/restoring from was audible at the time.

Recently upgraded myself with a 250Gb internal and a 250Gb external to use around the house and with PCs. Its a portable 2.5" and looks really neat with its polished black finish and protective cover when on the go.

Im now looking to put my original 60GB loft PS3 harddrive into the 40GB one in the living room. Yet to do this but noticed the mechanisim in the 40Gb model is different.

Can i ask what is a easy way to get PS3 compatible "Album Artwork" to show?

Embedding the artwork into the mp3 file is the best way (If I understand your question correctly). iTunes, WMP11, ps3, psp will all recognise it that way. On my central music server I have started doing that to all files. So album art shows OK in both PC/Mac apps, ps3 and psps.

Cheers, put an order in for one. :)

I discovered a PC utility thats very good for MP3 and embedding the artwork and track info.

Give it a try "Media Monkey"
So far ive been getting my track info updated/album art to appear on my PS3 and PSP.

I have used Media Monkey also. Tag and Rename is a very good alternative (if renaming files as well as correcting tags and embedding artwork is a feature you may need).

Let us know how you get on. Also now the Home Closed BETA is extended, give me a holla if you hear of any invites going :) ta.

Here's an interesting one... I have an external USB hard disc with several partitions on it, mostly NTFS. I've created a FAT32 partition on the drive which is the 7th partition on the drive, it shows up and is functional under both Windows and Linux but it doesn't show up in the XMB on the PS3 - does anyone know if the PS3 needs the hard disc to be exclusively FAT32 (or atleast the first partition to be, maybe)?

And I'll let you know if I hear anything RP.. :)

I think it can only read the first partition and it has to be FAT32, I haven't tried this but it sounds logical as the PS3 is also picky with USB sticks, the OS isn't as flexible as Windows or Linux.

im interested in an upgrade too, but i have one question regarding the backing up of existing stuff on the PS3.

I have a USB Hd already plugged into my PS3 which i play music from, its got a fair amount of free space on it so can i use this to save too, or does it need to be a blank USB HD to get the backup started?

Cheers
