Hey all,

I know this is a common thread so sorry, but I can't make my mind up! I already own a 360, with a fair few cross platform games. Now I have looked at the PS3 exclusives list and there is 15 games I would buy for it, from the currently released, and future releases, and then various arcade games like Pixel Junk Monsters as well. Most tempting to me are God Of War 3, The Last Guardian and Heavy Rain :D

So I ask you this, is it worth spending this much money on a console to play 15 games or so?

Thanks,
Jcb33.

I got a ps3 in august and don't have 15 games yet but it already seems worth it - don't know how my brother feels though and he was the one who actually spent the money...:p

Up to you at the end of the day. People buy consoles for 1 game, for 15 it doesn't seem unreasonable, most people here probably don't own 15 full retail games (at a time at least) for a 360 or PS3 and definitely not the Wii :)

Curious as to which 15 exclusive games have caught your eye, can you list them? I bought my PS3 on release and I don't think I have bought 15 exclusive Disc based games!!!

There are definitely for and against arguments for both consoles, and thus, reasons for buying one or the other. I'd say that the old argument of cross-console games running far superior on the 360 to be false now, from what I read on the net. The good points of the PS3 I'd say would be the free online play and the great exclusives that they get, the 360 exclusives just don't do it for me.

Also, Blu-Ray capability is a huge thing if you've got an HDTV and all in all the PS3 is a much higher quality piece of kit in my opinion. It (The Phat versions) look more like a serious piece of kit instead of a kids toy. I think that it would look right at home in an AV rack, whereas the 360, especially the beige models look like they should be hidden out of sight. Build quality is also better on the PS3 than the 360, no doubt.

I'd go for it. My ps3 has become the hub of my living room entertainment, if I'm not gaming on it I'm usually on the net or streaming avi files to it from my pc, then there's the bonus of the blueray player.

Oh and just to show I'm no fan boy I'm off to get a 360 elite in an hour or so for Forza 3 :D

I got mine aswell as my 360 mainly for MGS4 and Killzone 2, not dissappointed and there's plenty of other exclusive very decent games too :p

Not forgetting the Blu-Ray player :D

I game more on my 360 since I finished of most of the PS3 exclusives I had, but the PS3 is much more, it's a proper entetainment hub.

Though Wipeout HD + Fury make the PS3 worthwhile alone :D

I had a PS3 and a 360 for a while and whilst the 360 was used more, I did really enjoy a couple of games on the PS3, and I used it every day for DVD, Blu-Ray and media streaming. I sold it but I am very tempted to get another one after Christmas as the prices now are very reasonable I think.

Plus I want to play Uncharted 2 :D

It sounds to me like you will get a lot of use from it, so I say go for it!

15 games sounds like a fair bit so you should definitely be able to get your moneys worth from it.

dont think i even own 15 games on both my consoles atm but saying that, i only bought them for forza & granturismo and right now im loving forza 3

Just what everyone else has said - go for it.

Blu-Ray is great, streaming stuff from your PC is great, free online play is great (don't listen to the nay-sayers about network quality - i've had no issues whatsoever, apart from IW's crappy COD4 servers....), and the exclusives (upcoming and already released) are/should be great:

GOW III, MAG, Heavy Rain, GT5, Metal Gear, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, and the new Rockstar development, what is it again? Agent?

It's a great entertainment centre.

I paid £399 for my original PS3, I haven't regretted it for a second, it's the hub of my living room, pretty much everything goes through it.
Once I decided to get Play Tv I 'upgraded' to an 80GB model to save on leccy bills, but as far as I'm aware my original 60GB is still going strong with someone on these forums.

Also, presumably you are also a PC gamer, so use the PS3 for their exclusives and play the 360 games (like l4d) on your PC. Most 360 exclusives are on the PC as well. Use the 360 pad if need be....

Get the best of both worlds.

EDIT: re-reading this, my point is not clear: sell your 360+games, and put the money towards a PS3 and you'll still be able to play most of you 360 games on your PC.

As I say some are out not yet but:

Folklore
Heavenly Sword
Metal Gear Solid 4
Little Big Planet (Sad I Know)
Resistance 1 + 2
Uncharated 1 + 2
Killzone 2
God of War 3
Heavy Rain
The Last Guardian
Final Fantasty XIII Versus
Valkyria Chronicles

Make that 14!

Then tempted by games such as Disgaea 3 and Demon's Souls

*EDIT* Would also be picking up the limited edition Resident Evil 5 due to it having an extra 3 hours of gameplay, and then I Would be getting arcade titles such as Pixel Junk Monsters!

I have been into town and found a Mint Condition but Pre-owned PS3 for sale in a local shop, 60GB model, comes with original box and 1 year cover all for the price of £180, is this a good price?

Thanks,

I paid the RRP on a Slim a few week ago for the sole purpose of playing just 2 games - Katamari Forever and Little Big Planet.

I do have a couple of other games, Uncharted (which is an amazing game I admit) and Infamous (which I feel is far far better than [Prototype])

It certainly hasn't become my main console, the Xbox360 will always be that because I have yet to play anyone on the Playstation Live Network (even though I've tried) and apart from a handful of exclusive titles (Flower, Noby Noby Boy), don't think it has as much to offer as XBLA.

It's a nice piece of kit I'll give it that, I just think the PS3 screams "Bling" and Xbox360 screams "Play me".

But as others have said, your call.

I bought a PS3 last year off the MM and it was instantly vindicated by MGS4. Got my fair share out of GT5P and more recently its come alive in the guise of Uncharted 2. I also own a few BluRays and really enjoy the HD movies.

Yes it's worth it. The Uncharted series are imo the best games to come out in recent years and there's plenty of others that are well worth playing.

Funny. This is what I actually do lol. The only game I play on my 360 is gears of war 2 or guitar hero/rock band, but this is only like 3 or 4x a year.

I used to use the argument that 360 games nearly always come out on the PC, that was until Alan Wake was put on hiatus for the PC. Now one of my most anticipated games seems to be a 360 exclusive, enough to justify it to me along with the big RPGs that rarely make it to the PC (Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean, etc)

I bought my PS3 after selling my 360, i only own 5 games for it, and mainly use it to watch DVDs. Blu Rays and the iPlayer for when im in bed lol. When i get more money though, i will definatly be buying Uncharted 2 and other exclusives.

PS3 has more exclusives because there coding is different from PC so they aren't as easy to port over like 360 games.
