PS3 Worth Getting?

Right, I have decided to go for it, I am very excited about God of War 3, The Last Guardian and Heavy Rain so I mares well have the console to play them on :D

I know it will not get used as much as my 360 as that’s what I will continue to buy multiplatform releases on due to most of my friends having a 360 over a PS3.

I will be picking up the 60GB model, in almost mint condition and with a Dual Shock 3 pad, with Heavenly Sword and Resistance for £192.46 :D

Thanks for all the help!

Unless you need to be able to play PS2 games then I would prefer to spend a bit more and get a brand new slim with a 120gb hardrive. You can get them for about £240 with a game or 2 at the usual places or in supermarkets.

I know this makes sense, but I just don't like buying revisions of consoles, I own a phat PSP, original DS, chunky PS2... you get the idea, the original PS3 just looks more meaty, plus I hear the slimline has more overheating problems!

Just out of curiosity, where did you hear about o/h problems on the slim?

Where I work we have been told that they have an issue with overheating, that may cause a higher failure rate in the future :(.

Where's that? And who told you?

Forgive the inquisition, it's just that I'd rather separate genuine concerns with scare-tactics. For instance, the YLoD affected a very small percentage of PS3's (mostly launch 60G by the way) and it was built up to be something comparable to the RRoD on the 360....

I have a old PS3 model. It as the 40gb but I changed the HD to a 250gb (£39.99 well spent) I still see 80gb models in supermarkets for about £230 with games. I would always prefer to buy new unless it was a DS or something that you can pretty much take at face value if the thing powers up.

Well I picked this up yesterday, it all seems to be fine, I can connect to PSN and use the net etc so it seems not to be banned. Tried a few hours of games and they all run fine to as does the PS2 emulation. So hopefully all is well!

Got my PS3 a few months ago I have five games for it and I finished Ghostbusters. Prototype, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet are all sat on the shelf.

I tried to start Resistance 2 but it was so dark I couldnt play it plus the fact that there are no ingame brightness settings put me off (I'm not messing about with my screen setup just for one game).

Just not been bothered with the PS3 recently. I only use it as a blu ray player.

I finished Resistance 2. I don't remember it being dark at all:confused:
