PS3

Can you point me in the direction of where you read that? I'm not trying to start another flame war or even disagree, but I have looked around on the internet and can't find anything about the PS3 not selling. I spoke to my cousin on New Years day, he lives in Washington DC and owns a string of 5 music/games stores, we had a brief chat about the new consoles out and he said that the problem for him is that he can't get hold of PS3's and if he had 100 units delivered they would be gone within a day or two.

They are selling, just not as fast you would imagine. E.g. Wii will sell out 5 minutes after going on the shelves, PS3 will sit for a whole day.

Also, the prices on the American Ebay have dropped quite dramatically.

If it makes any difference.... I returned my PS3 for a refund last week. I just preferred the 360 and didnt truly need 2 gaming systems.

I must say the comment on that link and the attached picture did make me laugh:

btw see here its mentioned again
"Reports have been steadily trickling in since yesterday of stockpiles of Playstation 3s found sitting around in Best Buys untouched, or hardly touched. Best Buy announced they would be selling a bunch of the consoles starting Sunday and according to several emailers, very few people took them up on their offer. Of course this is all anecdotally, so I'm not sure how widespread it is. What I can tell you is that the Best Buy near my house had 31 Playstation 3s sitting in a lovely wall o' consoles this morning when I swung by the store. Many, if not all of them, were the 60GB model.

While taking pictures of the stack load of PS3s (and the nearby wall of Xbox 360s, twice the size) someone came buy and plucked one up. He happened to be right next to me when I was paying for my stuff and I heard him saying that the main reason he decided to get it was because it offered up games at 1080p and he wanted to see what it looked like on his plasma. It appeared he was also buying a Blu-ray movie and a copy of Madden for the system.

No surprise which system sold the most this Christmas in USA though.

I think the ebay crash was just waiting to happen tbh. Everyman and his dog thought they would jump on the 'quick profit selling latest console on ebay' bangwagon and they flooded the market. I see they are still selling for more on ebay than the RRP though, strange if you can buy them in stores!

[EDIT]

I think the auction profiteering days are gone, as apparantly you cant get a Wii for love nor money in the shops but when you look on ebay it's selling for less than you would imagine!

Well if anyone is going to get a console now, they should go for the x360, if they are a ps3 fan, they should deffinetly wait a bit, it might save them a lot of headaches.

True, I wouldn't recomend that anyone imports unless they can afford to replace it if it goes wrong or has a contact to return it to so that they can try to replace it under warranty in country of origin.
