The reviews are usually based on someones opinion, which you may not share.
So it's never wise to pick a game purely on reviews, for instance I hate RPG's, etc. I'm sure theres a few that have been very highly reviewed on such sites.
The best way to know if a game is any good is to play it. Failing that watch gameplay footage, but nothing comes close to playing it for yourself.
Loads of people on here like Major League Baseball for instance, I on the other hand would rather play fifa even though this years incarnation is awful.
