Might still not be as good as a xbox pad though, stuff like the pressure sensitive buttons might not be functional, theres plenty of console pads that work on the pc and most simply function as a generic device without the pressure sensitive stuff.

For me the xbox pad works great on PC this expected. But my god the layout is just horrible lol
Having grown up playing ps1, ps2, ps3 that pad just feels normal to me..

The way the ps3 pad works right now on PC is it emulates the xbox pad and works very good..

But with the PS4 pad we getting support for Windows driver out the box. Now will this again just emulate an xbox pad? maybe but it sure will be better than using the ps3 pad.

Sony releasing this to work on Windows also has me thinking and what they was saying at E3 about having Sony software on not just the PS4 so will this mean first step on them release the PS brand to other platforms?

See this http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/09/23/playstation-games-could-stream-to-pcs-tvs-and-phones

Side note, I've been using my hacked Xbox 1 Controller S with MotionJoy 360 pad emulation. Even does analogue trigger which I could never get working with XBCD

I wonder if Gaiaki streaming will be made available for PC. It would be a great way of playing some of the console exclusive games such as Uncharted.

That's what I am thinking.. Sony hinted they see Sony brand on other devices in the future. We already have PlayStation Mobile, now we have the PS4 pad compatible with PC has me thinking why would it be :D

2014 Gaiaki goes live on PS4 I can defo see this on not just PS4.

They just the odd couple games where a pad works better like Fifa 14 for example.

Yeah exactly. Some games are just better with Control pads. Mainly sports games I find, such as Fifa and Virtual Tennis...

Also old console games such as megadrive games, emulated on Steam - we are are allowed to talk about that right? are good with Control Pads.

Only games which I don't think are good are Strategy games (such as C&C) and FPS's. Games such as World of Tanks I can't imagine being as good without a Keyboard and Mouse either...

So yes, I can certainly see why you posted this thread.

If Sony get the implementation right I can see it being very popular.

I still use an old PS2 pad with a USB convertor on my PC rather the utter gash 360 pad so this is good new indeed.

Ive used both pads at Eurogamer last month and they are both a bigger improvement than i thought. Ps4's DS4 feels perfect and plays lovely. Xbox One's controller finally sorted out that god awful deadzone it had and also feels nice. The xbox triggers are a little to sensitive as when i was playing Battlefield 4 just resting the controller was making the button trigger :/ but either are gonna be nice to use

That's good info thanks..

Don't use Motionjoy for your PS3 DS3 controller on PC, the program is hideous. Instead get the drivers from Motionjoy and then get a program called Better DS3.

There is a vid on youtube with download links but you need the drivers folder from Motionjoy (32 or 64 bit), google will find them too. Update the driver for the controller in device manager and then run Better DS3 to emulate the controller. So much better and works great with emu..., ahem I mean elevators ;) :D

Ah, that's really interesting. I'll have to try that out.

I have yet to read anything confirming xInput support.

Without that, any compatibility is pointless for the majority.

Have they confirmed if it will work both wired and wirelessly (I assume it will use Bluetooth?).

Yoshida's comments saying it will work "Just fine" have been banded around for a while but other than that, there has been nothing else as far as I know.
