PS4 Games - Whats going on with low frame rates and lag?

Hi there, I just wanted to share my experience with my PS4. The last couple of years I was playing Fifa 15 and even though it's a brilliant game, the game lags which is strange because I've never experienced this on console with any other game. And now recently I bought The Last Guardian for £50 and that game runs at like 20fps because for some reason Sony are trying to force you to upgrade to a PS4 Pro...

I just don't understand why they would do this. Obviously the issues with both games is completely different. Also I recently bought Fifa 16 for Christmas and that game has the same lag issues at the previous version. I have searched online and read about loads of fixes but none that I have tried have fixed the issue, and both Fifa 15 and 16 have the same issue. So I'm guessing Fifa 17 will have the same issue too?

But the point is Sony shouldn't allow the release of games that lag like Fifa or have low frame rates like The Last Guardian.

What do you guys think?

Also I'm worried for the future as I have Horizon Zero Dawn on pre-order, still 45 days to go, what if that games comes and that also runs at low frame rates? I'll be so annoyed if that is the case.

The whole point of a console is that you turn it on, stick a game on, and it just works, with none of the issues you'd expect to find on a PC.

Let me know if you guys have experienced similar issues or what your thoughts are on this.

Also regarding the Fifa lag issue, it was the same situation at my previous house on BT internet and now also the same at my new house with Virgin Fibre 100mb so definitely nothing to do with my internet or anything on my end. I read online that EA have severs abroad and that the severs are slow and the netcode is bad etc? I don't know if any of this is true but it just seems insane that they've ruined one of the best games out there due to lag issues. When I am playing a game online it lags/jerks every 3-5 seconds. And I have to play almost every game like this, sometimes its better, sometimes its worse, but it's always there.

Your problem is buying The Last Guardian in the first place.

Cannot comment on the issues with Fifa.

The problem in general though is the fact that the consoles are just underpowered, that's all there is to it.

There is an issue that framerates and resolution are all you are met with these days online with indepth dives into the engine performance etc, sometimes even on unoptimised beta code and games are getting announced at E3 then hours later DF are tearing the game down frame by frame offering frame rate tests and putting that info out there, it must be infuriating for developers., you never had this years ago so I was totally ignorant to it all and didn't care back when I had my PS1/PS2 etc, resolution was not even in my vocabularly back then for console games.

Given you say in your post it's EA servers issues and lag, I dunno how that is the ps4's fault.

Also if FIFA 17 lagged every 3-5 seconds, I doubt many folk would have bought it or there would be a huge outcry. I've never had any bother or know anyone with that kind of bother.

I usually try demos or wait for a performance analysis before purchasing games. I deliberately avoid games with performance issues unless it's something I really want to play.

Some games will have performance issues. It has always been like this and probably always will be. People say it's because the consoles are underpowered, but it isn't. The fault is primarily with the developers. The hardware has relatively little to do with it.

If it bothers you that much you should play demos when possible and wait for performance reports from DigitalFoundry...etc before buying.

I played Last Guardian all the way through and didn't find the performance too bad, I noticed more slow down in Bloodborne and DS3.

How is it any different than from before? Doom and Red Alert on the PS had awful frame rate. N64 Goldeneye split screen MP was around 15 FPS at best as was Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2. Consoles being underpowered to keep costs down is nothing new.
