PS4 saves question

It's cool I just found a 1TB USB3 drive in my cupboard. I'm using that to back up but am also backing up app data to cloud and USB in case! :)

Well that was easy... Apart from somehow one of the guides snagging whilst removing the old drive. I had to bend it back into place with a knife to slot the caddy back in. Had me worried for a bit!

Cheers! :)

I forgot to add that I think that the loading times beige reduced is greater when the game is downloaded rather than played from a disc.

Apparently the pro has sata 3 which will get full use out of an ssd. Normal ps4 only has sata 2 so ssd doesn't offer anything more than an sshd.

Yeah, sucky. :/ That was why I went with the 2TB mechanical. Granted its a little faster than the stock drive but all that storage.

It makes very little difference in reality, the PS4 Pro loads games faster with the default HDD than a standard PS4 anyway.

Actually the evidence points to a bottleneck somewhere else that makes an SSD a waste of money even on a PS4 Pro. I think I read something about a USB->SATA bridge limiting bandwidth but can't quite remember.

After looking at the figures of various tests I decided the 2TB Firecuda was the best bet. I wanted a bit more storage so any extra performance is a bonus.

It's partly that and also artificial limits placed on data throughput so that the PS4 can read game data, write game saves, download stuff in the background, upload stuff in the background and record your video gameplay all simultaneously without any one of those things cocking it up for another.

I wonder what the chances are for the PS5.
