PS5 Hard Shut Down - Overheating

Got my PS5 shortly after release and it's worked flawlessly until recently. About a month ago it hard shut down suddenly, total power loss. I thought it was a fluke as was streaming YouTube at the time. It's now happened again while playing Miles Morales. I noticed instantly how hot the unit felt, so decided to give it a blow out as it was a little dusty.

Removing the stand to get the side plates off, the base screw was too hot to touch as was any bare metal component. I inspected the fan etc and couldn't smell any burning or melting but this isn't ideal at all, everything seems fine. Not much dirt to blow out etc.

Anyone else come across this?

I've only seen posts on forums but they say the system software tells you its overheating and will shut down.

I've seen this too, no warnings for me either. I was playing Stray when it just turned off.
EDIT: Looks like it might be a PSU issue hence the lack of warnings about shut down. I'm going to take mine apart later to check for dust inside.

Clogged with dust on the fan, vents and radiator inside. Got a lot of it out but I think there is more, need an air blower for that though.

Thanks for that, looks simple enough and I've got a blower etc.

Looking at getting some custom side plates with proper ventilation after a few vids have said it dropped temps by 5c or more.

Do you guys not regularly dust around your PS5's? I give mine a dust before every session and have given it a deep clean twice so far since launch. Never have I experienced it powering down or a overheating warning.

I have never had the need to deep clean it or even dust it and absolutely no issues. I just checked it and there is barely any dust on anyway.

I need to properly open it up and clean it out but haven't any more issues so far. I don't think it helps with the fan being so choked off.

Same, those photos above are staggering and definitely not the norm. When I installed an SSD in mine recently there was hardly any sign of dust build up around the fan or vents, and my flat does get fairly dusty.

PS5‘s have issues with the power supply’s where they just shut off with no warning. It mainly affects the launch models but has been seen in the newer revision as well. Sony using cheap components is the main cause yet they have put the price up……. Nice.
