hi

im getting really slow connection speeds on my wired virgin media connection to my ps3.

it was ok a few days ago but today and last night it took ages to log onto psn and i was getting bad lag on online games

i run a speedtest on my pc and i got a download speed of 9.5megs but on my ps3 i was only getting 1.5megs.

does anyone know what could be causing this as like i say it was fine before

thanks

Unfortunately not very specific but explore the following settings for your router and your PS3;
UPNP
NAT
Firewall/Services allowed or disallowed

sorry, well i have upnp enabled and i get a nat type 2 when i run a connection test everthing normally suceeds apart from download and upload which fail the test.

its just strange that it was ok last week, it makes me wonder if vm are throttling my connection to the ps3??

* perhaps i should get up early and try it then when im outside there peak capping hours, and see if its better , then least i know its them and not me

Sound advice from Knives, I'd also investigate OpenDNS (google is your friend :p) as that resolved long connection times i had with the PSN when on Virgin.

Long shot in the dark but on your PC, try ipconfig /flushdns (enter it in the search box on Windows menu bottom on the taskbar). This fixed a bandwidth throttling issue I once had with my PS3 - not sure how or why.
