Does any one eles hear suffer from it?

I hear it's quite common yet I have not met anyone else with it. I have suffered with it On my scalp for about 12 years and is only now starting to spred to my forehead and ears :(

*This is not a medical advice thread*

Fellow sufferer here.

Behind both ears, scalp when stressed, both ear canals, right elbow and patches on my torso.

Had it about 7 years now, have betnovate cream and ointment, but never really use it.

I get some either side of my nose occasionally. I find a really hard cleansing scrub of it, followed immediately by some proper moisturiser clears it up. I also get some on my scalp which is more than annoying.

Pretty sure it's linked to my arthritis, somehow.

My wifes family gets it. Her uncle has it very bad all over.

She gets it on her knees and elbows. It gets really bad when she is tired and stressed. Sunlight/UV treatment apparently works REALLY well. Embarassing Illnesses had a women with it all over and she had the treatment and it went right down.

She was the first person (that I know of) that has it though. Guess its not that "common"!

my friend has has this for years on his elbows and knees but now he has gotten rid of it, he went to the doctor and was given something called 'dovo oil' (probably not the correct spelling).

it is a topical medicine he uses one or two times per week and he says it has cleared him up a treat.

hth

Yeah I am currently looking at. Using a UVB comb and I have heard about that dovo oil, on some people it will work fine for a few days then it comes back twice as bad :(

I read this article once about this guy who had the worst psoriasis i have ever seen and he tried everything you could think of and then someone suggested he removed his mercury fillings and he did that, within two weeks he was clearing up and making a full recovery.

Go and see your GP, see if he can refer you for light treatment. This has worked wonders for my dad. He's suffered with it for years, but it's now virtually gone! He's got a wicked suntan from the light treatment too.

He's also going to trial a new light treatment with a different spectrum, which may help more so in the long term.

Yeah I did go to my gp and got sent for UVB light treatment and it was working great but stopped cos it was 20 min drive to the hospital every other day and it made me my boss not very happy at me and that's fair enough really

So going to buy one for my self to use at home, but the new spectrum that your dad is getting does spins very interesting and I hope it works out for him :)

My mom had bad eczema growing up she was in and out of hospital and she has since realized that dairy products contributes to it and she is careful what she eats now and it is mild but still occurs on her hands. I get it sometimes behind my ears and i used to get it between my fingers. But only a bit, quite lucky, considering my mum had it.

I only get this on my hands and slightly on my forearms occasionally, i have some cream off the doctor to control it when it starts to flare up, and it works perfect, get's 'rid' of it within a few hours. Must be horrible having it on the scalp and around the ear area thought. I feel for you :(

Another vote for light treatment. I've no experience myself (though I can sympathise because I've had persistent, though limited eczema all my life) but a friend's son developed really bad skin problems and light treatment seems to have worked well for him. They had a long, regular drive, but it was worth it.

Good luck. Problems like this can really mess your life up, and it's worth trying anything and everything.

Scalp and beard/chin for me, sometimes ends up going around my back/shoulders too.

Right pain in the ass, tbh. Look like some kind of flea-bitten mongrel scratching my head in the office all day trying not to flake near people.

It gets particularly bad around the front hairline, ie. across forehead and down sideburns. :(

Mind you, I've never bothered seeing a doctor about it. Perhaps should.

The doctors use you as gunipigs, try this cream, try this and that, will take a while and will be annoying, what I found was the creams worked for a while then I kinda got immune to it, and it stopped working  so I stopping going as I was getting annoyed but the lit treatment is the one to calm it down

Got to being upper teens, and I got patches of red on my scalp. I thought originally it was down to (at the time).. my long hair combined with hair wax. However, more recently I've had it develop on my face slightly, and when I grow too much facial hair (I.e. I'm being lazy and not shaving for a week). If I shave I don't get it around my chin area at all.

I can also put this down to it coinciding with me cycling to work, and sweating much more than previously. I have found the best thing for it is (for me) is Selsun original. Leave it on for a bit then wash it out, and repeat (or shampoo with ordinary to get rid of grease, and then use selsun). I have even used this on my face when need be and some people with SEVERE conditions use the blue version on their legs etc.

Additionally.. for the past few months I've been getting very little sleep, eating poorly (snacking on biscuits at work a lot etc), and have been seperated from my wife and child for 3 months until I get to go see them at Christmas. So it's not surprising to me that it's worse. I never had a condition as a child.

So for me, just getting healthy (eating wise), getting more sleep, shaving and getting my life sorted out with my international move will help me lol.
