PSU advice please

Hi,

I have a HP Pavilion p6-2370ea as per here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03527054#N90

The PSU in it is supposedly 300watt, however it has 2x 12v rails with 12a and 16a on each.

I'd like to add a GTX 460 1GB to it, do you think the PSU would cope?

Or should I just replace the PSU too?

Replace the PSU. 100%.

This chappie will serve you well :) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-007-XF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2463

Either of those would do the trick. I have a 460 running on one of those PSU's (the CoreXstream) 24/7 at 100% load in one of my systems.

The XFX will have higher quality circuitry/components inside though. It's your call :)

I know they do, I have read a lot of PSU reviews (I am sad!). The PC is not for me or I would have gone for something higher end. It's for my cousin who only has a £400 budget.

So anyway, I have ordered the OCZ, seems to be a few reports of the coolermaster not being very good. I know OCZ are/were not doing very well, but hopefully this will be fine :)

Thanks for the help.

No probs. The OCZ seems very decent for the price. 100% load on the 460 for several months solid using it (folding), no hitches whatsoever.

Go for the OCZ coreXtream 500W instead of the CoolerMaster Elite 500W. The CoolerMaster Elite 500W is not mean for using with graphic card that require more than one PCI-E 6pin.
