Hey guys, I've not been here in a while due to personal issue's but I'm finally sorting it all out and looking to get back into the PC universe.
I'm a little out of touch with hardware these days so I was just wondering what kind of PSU would be suitable for a high spec gaming machine. I remember back in the day it was the Corsair 650w TX series or something that was in the highest regard but these days I have no clue :p

I've had my eye on this PSU and I'm just wondering if that would be enough for what I want.

The rest of my planned build is as follows:

Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz
MSI HD 7870 Black Knight 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
Corsair Vengeance 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Plus case and monitor and the other peripherals.

If there are cheaper alternatives(in terms of PSU) then I'll be glad to hear them as although I don't have a budget, I don't want to over spend and I'd like to keep it as low cost as possible. Thanks in advance.

Anything with a Seasonic OEM (XFX/Seasonic/a few others) is golden, Corsair aren't what they used to be. The gamer series (GS) is especially problematic.

Over the last 4-5 years I've used Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax and Antec PSUs for builds and upgrades. The only brand that has never let me down is Antec. Although the others have, crucially they didn't take out other hardware with them when they died.

I may just have been unlucky, but Antec is the brand of choice for me for now.

I recommend
