Is a psu with dual rails 17a and 14a 400w going to be enough to run to run my pc?

Depends on what's its gonna power. Which cpu, gfx card etc...do you plan to use it with?

was going to get one of those and give (reluctantly though its 6 year old ) my tagan to my daughter to replace a cheapo generic thing

Sure, the OCZ is a nice PSU, but i know several people personally who've had theirs blow up. These are better anyway, and that PC P&C is only supposed to have a noise output of something like 10dB.

Aye it's the one I was originally going to get, then I went for a modular but I think your right and I'll flip back to the pc power and cooling and tuck the extra cables away somewhere cheers
