I have a quick question regarding this PSU:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-042-BQ&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1083

I think I have asked this in a few threads recently but I thought I would ask just so I could get a good idea of how powerful it is.

Could someone give me an example of how powerful that PSU is? As I'm planning an upgrade at the moment and am going to be running an i5-2500K and SandyBridge mobo, 4GB XMS3 1600MHz, 1TB F3 HDD and a DVD-RW. The thing is, I'm considering going for a GPU now aswell just to complete my new build as originally I was going to stick with my GTX 260, but I am thinking it will be better to just buy a GTX 460 or something and then I will essentially have a great gaming PC for the next year or two.

The thing is, will that PSU power that system above, along with a 4GHz overclock on the CPU and a GTX 460? And if it can power it, would it be at any risk of failing? Like, is it recommended that I get a better PSU for that build? As I have already bought that PSU (BeQuiet L7 530W), as tbh I didn't expect my upgrade to be so big originally but it's got bigger as I am now doing a complete build instead of just a few components.

Also, if that PSU is powerful enough for the system I mentioned, could anyone recommend the best GTX460 in both the 768MB and 1GB variations? As it depends on how much money I have left over which will determine which one I buy.

This would be the System MAXIMUM under full load and being stress tested.

using this test system,

CPU: Intel Core i7-920 @ 3.33GHz
Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme
Chipset Drivers: Intel 9.1.1.1015 (Intel)
Hard Disk: OCZ Summit (120GB)
Memory: Patriot Viper DDR3-1333 3 x 2GB (7-7-7-20)

This is more real world playing a game.

Sandy bridge is more power efficient than the older i7 chips.

.

You should be ok.

Your PSU is rated at 34A 408 W for +12v output, that's the important figure you can pretty much ignore the other outputs these days.

You can say really you have a 408 W PSU.

The GTX 460 is rated to 160 W

And an overclocked 2600k basic setup @ 4300 MHz used 180W, so its safe to say a 2500k is gonna be lower. (see link)

That gives you at least a 68 W overhead., which is ok, but you wouldn't want to put too much more load on it though. :)
