PSU blew some time ago

Hi there,

Some time ago my PSU blew due to a power surge in the house and the PC wouldn't turn on afterwards.
I have since purchased a new upgraded PC but I want to now get my old one back up and running so my dad has an upgraded PC.

I am not good at all with PC's but I have taken a picture of the PSU to hopefully help you, in helping me, purchase a new one.

Could somebody recommend what I need please?

The PC is a Acer Predator G5900.

The PSU is this..

FSP has had tendency to fail to include MOV to line filtering and that would make them more sensitive to surges.
Anyway that PSU is also likely full of cheap C(r)apXon capacitors...
And being only cooling in that badly designed gaming trinket case, so might have been anyway on its way out.

What's the graphics card of it?
(or precise model number)

Though for light web surfing etc use 450W would be enough:

Standard cheap capacitors don't like being warmed.

Also would add fan to rear to lower case temperatures some.
Available specs are obviously vague, so would be best to measure if case can take 12cm fan.
Though "Dremeling" away that crappy restrictive stamped mesh and replacing it with good old wire made finger quare would be good.

I think you cut card's model number next to PCI-e slot contacts just outside picture...
Though ...G-4GD fits to this:

Anyway that's bad card to have in such bad cooling case.
Unlike reference blower/radial cooler card it dumps all of its heat to inside case.
During gaming that PSU has been getting baked alive.
Its gaming power consumption goes up to 200W class, and absolute max draw to very high 340W

I think CPU heatsink could also do with cleaning...
Seems possibly dust clogged.
Any higher load must have been causing some higher noise.
Though that light web surfing use/word processing likely wouldn't be too much for it.

I have no idea what any of this means.
I think I should have stated the use of this PC..

My dad will literally use it for online banking and streaming tv.. that is it, no gaming.

I just want someone to recommend me a PSU that will work with this PC's setup.

That won't cause any real load, so that 450W Bitfenix would be easily enough.

But still would be good to clean that CPU heatsink.
Dust clogging it will cause fan to ramp up speed, while lots of dust in fan blades can cause fan to wear faster.

Thank you very much for your help.

Sell the GTX 980 if thats what it is,, will give you enough to buy PSU and a second hand card that doesnt need any power connectors. also check if its got on board video as this wound be enough for the interweb
