Hi,
Has anyone ever experienced the above? The psu will just click, light up for a second or two and shut off, and repeat. The computer refuses to POST or BOOT.

PSU is a Superflower 850w with an i7 4790k and a Gigabyte Z97 SOC Force motherboard. RAM is 8gb TeamGroup.

Had to pull the plug and start up that way :(

It's done it a few times.. haven't rebooted since though (its a new build for a friends son).

Yes booted fine after i pulled the plug and cycled the power switch. BIOS has not been touched since buying the bundle.

I have not heard of this board and PSU having any compatibility issue.

I was kinda hoping you had accidentally pressed the DBAT button, which causes similar behaviour and requires a full power off at the wall/PSU switch or removal of the 24pin ATX.

Its down near the the front panel header, its actually CBAT SW.

Its like clearCMOS on steroids.

Would it be possible for that button to be permanently ON?

Yes it is I beleive.

Need to get this sorted as it's a christmas present.. :(

If it was always on, the board will be also telling you the BIOS has been reset on boot up and you try and enter the BIOS.

You could try the paper clip test on the PSU and just connect a fan to one of the Molex connectors.

Another option is to test the system external to the case.

No difference. Sometimes the power button on the board doesn't even light up and also it refuses to even switch on!

So is this a PSU or Board issue? I dont have a PSU with enough CPU ATX 12v leads on.. my current corsair only has 1 x 8pin plug. The board takes 1x8 and 1x6 pin :(

It only needs the 8pin.

The extra connector is for extreme use overclockers.

Also..having it connected should not be causing issues either.

it does sound like the PSU at fault, do you have a spare you can at all?

if the motherboard is getting no lights then its not getting power.

Tried my cpu and its doing more or less the same thing but no BIOS RESET message.
PSU cycles after being turned off (as if its trying to turn on)
PC tries to turn itself back on after being shut down but shows above symptoms.
Seems like its the board?

Will have to try a bare build outside of the case next.. whats the best way to do this?

I would build it on top of the motherboard box with stock cooler, one stick of RAM, no GPU and PSU to see if it posts

Do not use the anti-static bag to build on top of however, as I heard the outside of these often conduct to keep it away from the inside
