PSU clicking - Does this warrant a RMA?

Hi all,

Had this PSU for nearly 3 weeks, recently I can hear it clicking, when I stop the fan from spinning the clicking stops. It's a Silverstone Strider PLUS 600W. I've put a request in for a RMA and it's been accepted but if they feel the PSU isn't at 'fault' I will have to pay for shipping etc.

It almost sounds like the fan is catching on something (which it isn't) Do you think this is the general nature of the PSU or would they exchange it?

Thanks

If it isn't the fan then it's probably the capacitors so yes I would go ahead with the RMA.

Just took it out the case, got it sat on my desk. Definitely a slight clicking but when I stop the fan from spinning, it goes. It wasn't there when I first got it so I consider that faulty in my eyes.

I have a 3 week old Nexus 430w which despite being marketed as silent produces audible clicks which can be heard up to around half a meter - reviews for this model stated that this occurred when the fan was running at slower speeds. I also have Corsair PSUs which are noisier but don't have the clicking so I guess it's really down to the fans.

If Silverstone have a UK RMA base do it with them otherwise go through the retailer.

Contacted Silverstone and they said to RMA with the retailer.

They're collecting it Wednesday so hopefully I won't be out of action too long.

Update - I now have the PSU laying on my desk. It was clicking last night. I pressed down on the fan as you can with most fans and it's not clicked since!? Shall I cancel the RMA? How long do you get to do RMA's? Usually a 1 year warranty?

Thanks
