Hi guys,

Got home from work to find my PC wont power on, changed fuse is PSU plug with no joy.

Stripped PSU out and done the paperclip test by bending clip into U shape and putting it in M/B 24pin input. one end of the paperclip in green and the other in a black. The fan spins up but there is a loud clicking noise from the PSU.

Whats peoples opinions, the PSU is a CORSAIR TX650W, dont really want to have buy another to see if it is the PSU as i have no friends with a spare and my spares are 300watt units. Its under warranty but want to make sure it is the PSU and not another componant, any advice or tips?

Thanks
Jay

In my experience the clicking noise you describe coming from the PSU usually means it's completely failed. If you wanted to be absolutely sure then you could use a Multimeter to check the voltages but a loud clicking noise usually points to one of the Caps having failed.

Thanks Phil, the fan spins but the unit clicks, when connected to the PC, the PSU does not even poswer up and the fan does not spin.
Ill request an RMA. Its about 2 yaers old but has a 5 year warranty.
Thanks gain,
Jay
