PSU DOA?

Bought a new set up from OC yesterday and delivery aside I have set it all up and tried to fire her up only for nothing at all to happen.

Have taken the psu out and tried to power it on but nothing. Inside or out the case nothing happens (no fan spin etc).

Does this mean the PSU is DOA and will need replacing or am I missing something obvious? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ps: the PSU is a OCZ ZT 550W

Is there a ON/OFF switch on the rear of the PSU?

Is it a complete PC system or a motherboard/CPU/RAM bundle?

Have you plugged both the 24pin ATX and 4/8pin ATX (near the CPU) in?

Is there any lights on the board/any fan movement?

Try a new power cord?

Is it ON at the wall socket?

You have connected the power button wires correctly? use a flatblade screwdriver to short the two pins that turns the PC ON.

Build the bare minimum of bits outside the case on a cardboard box.

On at wall socket of course.
Shorting did nothing while still inside case.
Built psu, mobo and cpu fan outside box. cpu fan spinning and psu on. (LEDS on RAM also on)

update: doesn't power on while inside the case and screwed down.

EDIT: The power switch on the actual case is fixed, connected the header while out on cardboard and works fine. Just for some reason when in case nothing happens.

Any help out there?

Regards

btw the psu wont power anything outside the case unless you bridge it and test it that way if not connected to mobo

any shorting of mobo when inside case ?

gtx 670
i5 3570k
gigabyte z77-d3h
ocz zt 550w
8gb ram (geil dragon)
bitfenix shinobi case
lg dvd drive and 500gb seagate hdd

The bare minimum you need is the board/CPU and a single stick of RAM.

Hook the monitor to the motherboard, short the two pins and see if it starts.

Also do a clearCMOS, remove the battery for a bit, refit and try powering ON again.

It works with monitor hooked up. Asks me to select boot device or insert boot disk.

edit: PSU is inside case, mobo is still out of case.

So are you giving the GTX670 BOTH 6pin PCI-E power cables?

You have used the case standoffs to support the motherboard in the case? and only standoffs where there is a hole in the motherboards PCB, if there are standoffs touching the PCB then remove it.

The 670 has got both of the 6pin pci-e cables but currently that is not connected.
The standoffs are fitted properly yes, nothing touching the pcb that shouldn't be.
