PSU EXPLODED!!!! NEED HELP

I'm not. mine went pop yesterday. :( Just goes to show you that even the best makes have problems too. Saying that I still think they're good. Cost me over £20 to RMA it though. :(

Just wished Corsair had a UK RMA address. My other PSU (Seasonic) hasn't got the warranty, the Corsair has so I would've been shelling out for a new one had that one gone bang instead.

Antec ;) owned/bought over 10 psus and they're all still running, even after 7 years some of them!

You are lucky the PSU was the only thing you lost, my last one (Hiper 550w mod) took out my mobo as well, and i was using a surge protector :(

Got an OCZ now and everythings fine again.

They used to stock Hiper "Explosive" Modular 550W PSUs you know. ;)

Yep. that's the one

but as the other ppl have said, get a quality make

Did it take anything with it though?

Yeah when that happened to me with the 580w modular it was the biggest bang I've heard. Not as bad as the cold cathode off ebay that was in flames as i slept on the first night, good job i woke up at the smell.

Problem with those is that Hiper had a good reputation till they released the 550W version.... Few years later, the Milton Keynes based company are no more... Shame, as they did produce some rather good kit, at good prices. It was largely one product that became their downfall...

I too built a system around one of these PSU's and thankfully its now back in the box after three years usage and not one problem with it... But it could have gone bang..!!

eck.. :eek:good job you're not a deep sleeper. Could've gone up in flames with it..

I do worry about my PSU though, its a Zalman 850W and if that goes bang then I'm going up in a mushroom cloud with it... :D

Keep meaning to get myself some surge protection...

I now have a 'approved by the whole internet' corsair HX1000W mostly because the previous experience scared the hell out of me.
Funny thing is I was too scared to buy lights for my pc from anywhere but ocuk since that day with the 'cold' cathode incident.

as said unbranded power supplies are flaky at the best of times, get yourself a decent branded psu and you should use a surge protector with most electrical things anyway such as your tv etc, but definately your pc! the surge protector will help prevent you losing everything in your pc, at most one thing might blow, but better this then the lot!
