Hi Guys,

I am bit lost and don't want to make a silly mistake so thought to check first.

I am buying the Helios case. The problem is it's huge and my PSU won't reach. Well, it will reach but it will mess up the cable management and my OCD.

This is what I mean :

Which extension do I need ? There's few, one labelled PCI-E, the other EPS12V. I am assuming I need the EPS12V one, right ?

Here's few examples :

I mean, I never thought about it, is there a difference ? Anyway, what brands would you suggest. Looking for plain black.... braided I guess.

Yes, the EPS12v is what you want for the top corner of the board which usually comes as a 4+4 pin or 8 pin cable, 24 pin for the main ATX connector and 6+2 pci-e cables for the gpu (however many it needs). There's also sata and molex cables for drives etc if you want to go the whole hog. The good thing about extension cables is that they fit all psu's as they simply plug onto the ends of the existing cables. I have used the Bitfenix ones in the past but am currently using Phanteks ones because of a theme colour change plus I bought the kit which has the 24 pin, 8 pin, 2x 6+2 pin pci-e cables and a set of cable combs in it. There is nothing to dislike about either brand as they are both quality cables and finished to a high standard. I am using the black/red version of this kit currently.

Also note the wire gauge of the cables. 16-AWG wire cabling has a higher current throughput capacity compared with 18-AWG.

For EPS and PCIe cable extensions, I'd recommend getting 16-AWG ones because the CPU and GPU generally have the highest power draw of the system and these extensions cost about the same as 18-AWG ones anyway.

As already stated, the one you're after is for your CPU, so it's the EPS cable extension.

The Silverstone EPS extension cable you linked is 16-AWG:

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Further on I was curios what the default running mode is for Thor PSU :
Found This :

4+4 pin EPS12V (650mm) 18AWG

So it looks like it's running 18 by default, should in this case I get the 18 one ? Probably ?!

Then it doesn't matter. Just don't get ones worse than 18-AWG (i.e. if it's a higher number than 18, then avoid).

I'd personally still go for the 16-AWG ones anyway because they'll work fine and they don't really cost any more than the others either.
