PSU extension help

Ive had my pc up and going for about 6 months now. Recently I purchased a 24 pin extension and when I plugged it in and turned on the pc it would turn on for about 1 second all lights and fans start then nothing. So I was wondering if I was doing something wrong or its a defective extension? motherboard is asus p8z68 pro and the wire was atx compatible.

Have you tried it without the extension?

yeah it works fine without it just when I tried the extension it was like it kept short circuiting power for 1 second then gone. I only tried a couple times as I was a bit wary.

What do the pins on the extension look like? Might be worth getting RMA.

Do any look displaced or in the wrong hole?

nope i checked it over and everything seems fine, Im going to contact them for an exchange and see it it works with a new extension. Thanks for the help though its much appreciated.
