" FEAR COMBAT CRASHES

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi

I couple of times (twice) while playing FEAR combat online I have noticed that all of a sudden my monitor screen goes into standby mode and the screen goes blank/ black.

I press a few keys, turn the monitor on and off, etc but can't get ANY picture (it just stays black and in standby).

It is like the graphics card has gone to sleep but I don't know.

I have recently changed my graphics card and overclocked it and my PSU has 17 amps on a single 12v rail.

Please note I have played unreal 2004 online and this has not happened and oblivion, fear, etc off line and this has not happened so I don't want to jump to the conclusion that this is a PSU problem.

Also, for info. my GPU runs at just under 80c under load.

Has anyone got any suggestions or has this happened to anyone else?

Update on the above!

Yesterday my PSU appeared to fail! Computer turns on (lights and fans working) but no sound and picture at all. I have had the computer a few months from new but the 7900GS and overclocking might have 'killed' the PSU!

Overlclocking generally won't damage the PSU. If the load is to much, then the system just won't function.

However, it does sound like a dodgy PSU could be causing some stability problems..

Give this a read through to be certain...

My first thoughts was that maybe the drivers were causing the monitor to standy by. Make sure the "Turn off Monitor" and "System standby" settings in Power Option Properties are set to Never.. Just to make sure.
