Just tonight my PSU fans (intake and exhaust) have started to spin at max rpm continuously.
Is there anything I can do to slow it down? The air coming out is cold not hot at all? The psu has a 2 pin cable going to the pwr fan header on the mainboard. Can I instead add it to my fan control to slow it down some?

Both fans were spinning super fast, its was only the normal fan noise they made. Just the rpm that's all. I could feel the air flying out the case.
New PSU doesn't have the intake and exhaust fan and now my cpu temp has jump by 4 degrees, boo!
Can I open the dead PSU to scavenge the fans? Reckon I could bodge one in to the two 5.25 inch bays I have free to get some more air in.

ive taken fans from psu's with the intention of using them, but never bothered as they had been spinning for years and past there best. are you sure the psu is dead?

im too looking at adding a fan in the 2 or 3 free 5.25 bays ive got free, as since adding the gtx 260 my system temps are up 5-10c, its a big slab stopping good air flow from the lower front intake fan.

If you open it up be VERY careful around the capacitors - they can hold charge for longer than you'd expect and give a nasty shock.

Righto, got the fans out, the have a two pin cable for power (red/back) and a two pin cable (black+yellow/yellow) that cam from the MB's sensor.
My fan controller has a 3 pin connector, (red/black/yellow) Any one know which ones from the fan need to be spliced into which from the fan control to get it to spin?
