Hi,

Need a little advice on my current PSU and if it's man enough to power 2 7950 cards in CrossFire?

I currently have a Corsair HX 650W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply running just the one card. Would I get away without having to upgrade the PSU to run two cards?

If not, would an 850 be more than enough?

Thanks & Regards

Thanks for the replies.

According to the model number of the one I have (CMPSU-650HX) it has 4 PCI Connectors.

So it could manage it, although it might be pushing it.... Think I might upgrade to play on the safe side.

Cheers.

Are you going for the ax850/860? if so avoid the ax860i as few bad reports about it.

Got a ax850 in main rig and ax750 in 2nd rig...great psu very quiet and 7 year warranty.

850w prob would be best for two 7950s just to give you some headroom for overclocking them :)

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Looks like the EVGA it'll be, and agree it's a lot better price wise.

Regards

Wow, im glad i took a read of this, i posted the other day with something similar

I think i will be going for a EVGA supernova G2 1000W, same price as a ax860 i found but will be a nice little bit of head room

Kind regards

The P2 (platinum) you mean? The 1000w G2 is only £139.99. Both are fantastic units that yopu can't really go wrong with. Jonnyguru reviewed both and gave the 1000w G2 9.5 out of 10 (would have been higher but he deemed the pci-e cables too long and deducted half a point) and the 1000w P2 9.7 out of 10.

Incidently, he gave the Supernova G2 850w a whopping 9.9 out of 10!!

If you are being sarcastic then the numbers mean a lot seeing as it's Jonnyguru's OklahomaWolf, probably the best PSU reviewer on the internet, that gave those scores.

If you are not being sarcastic, although the winking smiley would suggest you are, then apologies for the above.
