PSU for X1800XT and a little question....

hi all

got all my stuff delivered and will put it all together this weekend....

AMD64 3700+SD
X1800XT 256MB
2GIG GEIL VALUE
MSI MOTHERBOARD (cant think which one)

just a few questions....

will my power supply (Antec Truepower 480w) be sufficient....

and when using my old HD will i be able to "work" the PC so i can uninstall all old drivers off....

I think yer PSU should be fine, they are pretty good the Antecs, not sure about being able to boot from your drive if your old board was a different chipset, if you mean so you don't have to a do full format, and re-install, then there is a way, i think it involves removing stuff from your device manager thats related to your old board, but i can't remember, but as i said there is a way to do it if you don't fancy a full format/re-install, im sure someone who knows about it will let you know though.

you can do a windows repair and that will work but any sign of a problem and you'll always be thinking if its to do with that. Best thing to do is a full fresh reinstall and start from scratch. It saves waiting 2 weeks till you've got even more stuff on the drive and having to reinstall then.

Have virtually the same psu (Trueblue 480w) running atm with an oc'd x2 3800 six hdd's dvd/rw and just added an x19xt although its stable the 12v line is dropping to 11.56 it's only now started to speed up the psu fans! so you'll be fine.

Uninstalling the drivers for ALL hardware works probably 80% of the time for me but like the others a fresh install is best, think i'll skip the spam though

I have the antec 400w PSU with same specs (jsut diff mobo) and it works fine
