Quick question folks,

Looks like my trusty tx650 has bitten the dust. Only other psu I have to hand is a seasonic g series 430w (thinks its 430w!!) would it hefty enough to power up an i5 750 with a mild oc, a vapor x 5770 and a hdd just to test everything else is working?

if it's G series it's 450W.

CX vould be 430W.

but the answer is yes, it'll be ok.

I had TX650 v1 die on me too a while ago. just suddenly one day the PC would not start.

pheeewwww, plugged in the seasonic and the pc fired up without a murmur (knocked the oc on the cpu off just to be safe)

and that dear friends is why you always buy quality psu's.......even if something goes wrong they don't wipe out the rest of your kit!

now to see if the tx650 is still under warranty!

I feel your pain its an awful feeling but good to hear that it did not take out any of you kit.

lesson to be learned by every who does not bother about getting a quaility psu remember this can happen to you and it can take you whole pc with it.

You have been warned.

mine had 5 years warranty (happened in year 3) went for refund and got it no problem.

strangely mine is about 3 years old too.

question though. I'm filling out the rma process now and it's asking for a 'lot number' what in the heck is that? is it just the serial number?

I did the RMA with retailer not Corsair.

this is from Corsair forums:

If you look right next to your S/N you will see a section of number. This is your lot number

cheers. just whacked the whole serial number in and all the other numbers that are on the label. they can work it out for themselves!

these PSUs can peak at higher than rated wattage and as mentioned earlier rig like that would draw ~250W in full load and OCed, much less in idle, so no problem anyway.

cheers for setting my mind at ease. wouldn't wanna fry this one too, it's from the wifes living room htpc/browsing/gaming machine...she'd kill me!

Unlucky mate, thankfully though corsairs customer service is pretty good. Hopefully youll have a new unit soon.:)

ah one of those things dude. she powered off a couple of times randomly yesterday evening, so kinda figured something was about to give out.

think i'll treat myself to a new gpu to ease the sadness i'm feeling:p

Least it didnt take anything else with it. One of the major plus points of a quality psu.

Yep, nothing like soothing the pain with shiny new bits. Id love a new gpu myself, but tbh ive went way overboard on components already.:o:D

I'm sure you sli 670's are perfectly fine!! Well I suppose I may dust of the Xbox until the new psu arrives.....shuddering at the thought!! Lol

Anyone know if I'd be safe with the 360w psu and actually doing a bit of gaming. The i5 750 is back to stock and so is the 5770, add in a couple of hdds and a sound card.

As has been mentioned should only be drawing about 250w, but just a bit of extra clarification. I'm a nervous sole that way!!

So what we think. Yay on nay? Don't think I could survive without my pc, Xbox just ain't doing it for me!! If not i'll probably just buy a new psu till corsair RMA me my busted one.

You'll be fine tbh, 5770 only has a 1x6 pin power if memory serves, You won't get close, unless you go for silly clocks.
