Hey all

i have an XFX Platinum Pro 1KW PSU which has an issue.

Recently the Fan is cycelying on and off around 10-15 times upon start up, its supposed to stay OFF untill its required.

This in itself isnt that much of an issue, its the noise its making on these on and off cycles that is. It sounds like a fan bearing faulty? (OCUK tech said sounds like it)

Now here is the other issue. I can send it for and RMA, BUT OCUK no longer deal with XFX thus i wont get a replacement and only a Market Value Credit... So i wont be getting a nice new XFX PSU, i will be getting some money to a value much less than a new 1KW Plat psu costs no doubt.

Now here is my question to anyone out there.

What fan can i stick in the PSU that will work with the current system built in that only turns the fan on and off when required?

In the past i have tried retrofitting new fans to PSU's and they never power up..

It might be worth asking customer service what the credit payout would be, I'm sure they would be able to find out for you before you send it in. Replacing the fan can be a little risky and the pin layout on the fan is usually different to normal.

I don't know if your interested but O/C have THIS at £150. Thought it would be a better than trying to replace the fan thats all.

Unfortunatly i have some expensive cables custom made for my PSU so dont want to change it :/

Thats a bargin price tho for a PSU like that :O

Ah right ok then.

Yea I saw it the other day, but tbh I already own a gold rated 100W Corsair PSU, which is more than enough for my system :D
