PSU Modding

2 PCIe power connectors on one card may or may not have their 12V separate but I'd assume not if I didn't have a meter to check.

I think I'm wrong there, they are separate, otherwise it wouldn't know I hadn't plugged both in!
edit:
And the same issue about guaranteeing all the current doesn't go down one cable....
It's possible all 3 12v are separate on each connector, I may check that later on a spare card.

That doesn't add up to anything near 1200W, a very quick play with an online psu calculator comes up with nearer 650W.

Just done the same thing with my rig and its saying 618Watts.
But when i start to crank the thing up thats a dif matter. My CPU will draw 160+Watts.

Better to be safe than sorry :)

O just so its clear. I dont need 1200Watts. only need about 700 ish. but atm i only have a 650. So better than going and spending £170 on a PSU i dont realy need i was going to use my spare.

Using two psus in this fashion is not really a very good idea. They're likely to disagree slightly on what "ground" is unless they've been connected together internally in such a way that they are forced to agree. If your graphics card has one notion of earth from its peg cables and another from the motherboard I'd expect things to end badly.

I wouldn't be willing to do this, and I'm the stupid ******* pumping water through his psu. Good luck.
I always thought the the black wires (0v) on a PSU were earthed... Is this not the case?
