PSU needed for 2 x 3870X2.

I'd be tempted to wait for the new HX1000 from Corsair. I know 1000W is probably overkill but their 520 and 620 models are so damn good and quiet I don't reckon you could go wrong!

Whats going to need that to run? 620W can run GTX in SLi lol.

Well, I've had rethink and I've decided on a "Corsair HX620w ATX2.2 modular" jobbie. I reckon that 2 x HD3870X2 might be overkill, and single card solutions are always better than sli or Xfire so I'm led to believe. After the psu, I'll look into getting a wolfdale of some description, but I'm a bit concerned about the "flaky" nature of overclocks ppl have been getting.:)

Righto, I got me corsair HX620 psu this morning and I've had a look through the box contents and notice that on both pci-e connectors, theres an extra 2 pin connector wired in with the main 6 pin connector, would this be used to convert these plugs to 8 pin so, in my case with the 3870X2, I can enable overclocking using the CCC?
Cheers:)

I think so, but rivatuner is better for overclocking I think.

I'm sure the 3870X2 operates with crossfire too, its 2x RV670 I think and in some games it appears only one chip is being used.

Buying two 3870 X2's for a meagre %'age performance benefit (compared to cost) and immature drivers that will prbably mature just as the 9800 GTX comes out. Great idea.:p

Which version of rivatuner are ppl using? I tried it out but the 3870X2 wasn't being recognised at all. I don't suppose you have to edit a config file in rivatuner to get it to recognise the card? Myself and few others here had to do that to use rivatuner to clock the 8800gts 512:)

Well I'm not buying another one for a while yet, I've been advised to go for a wolfdale to get a bit more cpu grunt to power the card (which is being paid for today) and if you care to read the original post, I said I was CONTEMPLATING buying a second card, not deffo getting one straight away and I was looking for advice regarding a suitable psu. And I can get the second card if I feel the need for one is justified for a very, very good price.:)

Ive actualy read that the 850 is the odd one out as the rest are meant to be relatively quiet. Think they messed around with the fans in the 850 and its much louder.

I have the 700w and its not very quiet but I read in some reviews that its is very quiet so it might be only my one ;)
