PSU needed to crossfire 5770's?

no ive got it at stock and temps on cards and cpu are fine, ive tried everything and they still keep crashing, the only difference is 1 is a xfx and the other is a asus which shouldnt make any difference should it

ati recommends a 700w PSU. Also the graphic card makers produce lists on their website of reccommended PSU's that will work with each setup.

short answer, no a 500w PSU is not powerful enough, upgrade to around 700w+ PSU

Don't talk crap.

The GPU manufacturers list their "minimum wattage" so as to cover themselves against the retards that buy their PSU based on wattage and price alone, rather than seek out a decent brand/high efficiency PSU.

Short answer is YES a 500W PSU will be more than adequate, so long as it's not a crap brand.

I run the following off an Antec HE 550W:

Intel DX38BT
Q6600 @ 3.7GHz
8GB PC3-10666 DDR3
6x 7200 RPM HDD's
2x 32GB eSATA SSD drives
2x Radeon 5770's
1x GeForce 9800GT
3x 120mm fans
2x 140mm fans
2x DVD-RW's

I guess my PC should have already blown up?

you just got a good psu ;)

I have a Corsair HX620 and a Tagan 580w and neither can run Crossfire 3870 :/
With the second card in the 3.3v line drops to 3.26 and system is completely unstable. prime fails in minutes (Complete system lockup). 1 card all is fine and 3.3v sits at a steady 3.31. reducing my cpu overclock does nothing to help (unless going so low like stock, its pointless).

Both psu manage to maintain stability on my old amd 3800x2 box though with both cards. Maybe tthis x38 mobo is just crap. The psus should have been more then enough but either the mobo or cpu is stopping me from running 2 3870 atm. I was going to go crossfire 5770 at a later date if it all worked out, but looks like ill be going for a single 5850 now.
