PSU noise

Recently I've noticed my computer been making a lot of noise. (as result of moving to a smaller room)

After some inspection the PSU was the winner. For some reason the Fan blows at full speed heck even faster than my case fan from the time I turn on computer. For a PSU with the word Stealth in its title it sure doesn't sound stealthy... So I like to take some advise from you guys on getting it sorted or if theres a way to reduce the fan speed (I doubt there's any computer interface to reduce speed is there?)

The PSU in question is the "OCZ StealthXStream 600w". Its powering a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 with a i7 920 at 3.2Ghz and a Gainward Geforce GTX 275.

It might be a high frequency coil whine, that might be what you can here.
Moving the computer from 1 room to another wont make a difference to the noise
the Pc makes unless the system has been dropped or something like that.

The only way to keep tabs on the speed of the fan and the temp and and stuff
is if you install a temperature fan into the PSU while you can control the speed
and get the temp reading off as well.

The reason I didn't hear the noise before was because the other room was bigger and well was next to street so yeah never noticed it so much, and not sure when you say coil whine what you refer to but its the Fan noise :/

Also how would I go around to do the temperature fan? you mean replace the fan inside the PSU? if so wouldn't that void warranty or whatever?

Hi,

I've had the same PSU with the same issue. I decided to RMA it - so I've found a cheap courier online who sent it to Netherlands for 15 quids. 10 days later I've received new, unopened OCZ Z-Series 850W.

So I recommend doing the same, I wouldn't change fan as (1) warranty void and (2) this PSU might have load-balanced fan installed.

O! hmm biuro do you mind linking me to the right forum/site please?

This is my thread on OCZ forum:

You can find on that forum how to RMA your PSU, but you have to express some invention in arguing (for example, I underlined that warranty guarantees some noise level which has been exceeded, or the fan should be regulated but it is not). STealthXStream 2 series didn't come in with no reason :-/

Cheap courier was:

but now I can see prices are higher (summer?).
