Hi I have had this problem for some while and really want to get this sorted now but I am stuck at what is wrong and how to deal with it.

On my system I had a Tagan 700W which ran

*Mobo - Asus p5n-e SLI
*CPU - Intel Dual Core 6600 2.40Ghz
*RAM - 2GB 2x Geil pc2 6400
*GPU - Nvidia 8800GTX (overclocked from OCUK)
*HDD - 4 plus 1 external
*DVD - 1
*DVD RW - 1

I didn't have a problem with this set up, until I moved house that is.

Once I set the PC up in the new house all I got was a constant long beep, I tried all the relevant eliminations and got the same out come every time so I took this as the PSU had packed in, so I went round to a mates house who has the same Tagan PSU just to make sure! as I was not having it just pack in on me as it worked a few weeks prior!, when we plugged his PSU into my system it started up fine :(

I purchased a CiT 650W
thinking that would power everything i have which I was right apart from every time I start up i get a message pop up from Nvidia saying there is insufficient power so it reduced power level for the card to run safely

At the time I just couldn't afford to fork out for anything more than that so i have been using my system for basic web browsing but its killing me not being able to run any games at all :(

But recently ie today been tinkering about with it had everything out and tried to run it on mere basics mobo, cpu, gpu 1 hdd and am still getting the same pop up :( as the PSU has only 1 PCI-E cable i tried it in the 8800's other power port and when booted all i got was the long beep  now does this mean i had it wrong in the first place? or should i just take the hit and get a new better PSU and a upto date GPU?

Any ideas or help on this would be smashing :D

Regards

Aye that's what I thought was wrong with the CiT one I got but I did only get it to keep me going as temp until I could afford a decent one, would 500W be sufficient to run what I have?

Definetley :) You could prolly actually use a 450W, as long as its a good brand then it will actually supply the reccomended power.

Nice to see someone who was using a Tagan :D

my Tagan 480 has served me for easily 6 years now lol
