hey, 1st of let me just tell u my spec, 3700 (939) 1gb ram, geforce 7600gt. 4 hds, and dvd. a pci or 2 card. pritty standard stuff. with a targon 380.

now, its only just kinda started happening, but, if say i shutdown my comp and then start it up again. it wont see my DVD drive, its only if i pull out the power lead and then put it back in, and then restart it will it see my drive, in bios (and meaning windows)

now the only semi recent changes i made was putting in a 320 hd (sata).

o btw, when theres a problem times, the drive doesnt seem to have any power going to it. i have tryed differnt rails, and connects, and even tryed the dedicated molex connection (normaly used for gfx cards).. i was wondering if any1 has had this problem before?

The drive btw, is slave to a 300 gb hd. i havent tryed swaping over master and slave.. but because it looks like a power problem.. rather then IDE..

O i just want to add that the PSU is about 6months (give or take)

Do you have a spare DVD drive you can test, cause it may infact be the DVD drive that is faulty and not getting any power rather than the actual power supply.

If you can test a DVD drive in there that is working then you can eliminate this from the problem!

yes. sorry tagan 380.

and the dvd drive its self is only a few months old. but when its working (like now) its fine, reads discs ok yada yada.

I tell you, I have been working on comps for many years, and this 1 stumps me..
