I'm looking to use this with an E6600, Corsair 2GB and possibly an 8800GTX.

Currently I have a 430W Thermal Take running E6600, 1GB RAM and a 6800 Ultra.

Can I use that 700W?

Lots of big numbers, but I don't see any that count. (AMPs on rails)

Let me guess...it's about £36.66?

It prolly work, but you do get what you pay for IMO.

You are correct, is it there any here at overclockers you might be able to suggest? I'm looking for a price of around £60.

Those PSU's are made by Compucase. Compucase make very cheap cases with very bad PSU's included.

Make your own judgement. Its hard to find a PSU that fits the budget and gives you the power.

You really need something with Dual 12v Rails if your gonna have that set up tbh.

Edit: I have not seen that it has Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) so you could be running a PSU that takes 700w of power from the socket but providing only 350w.

Recommend this. Have the 400w versions & its complete quality, i.e. quiet, efficient, modular, etc :)

For a (single) GTX setup, you only about 475W ;)

Thanks guys. I'm back. Been doing some reading and all these seem pretty good for the price.

Antec NEO HE550GB 550W
OCZ StealthXStream 600W
Corsair HX Series 520W

Which would be best if I'm going to be using it for a few years? Also, do any of you happen to know if the OCZ is modular?

yea i would go for the

Corsair HX 520W but its 68 quid

i would never use cheap psus as they cant take the load and when they die they tend
to take out other hardware. ie mother boards ram and so on.

Good PSU's also last,

I'm still running an Enermax 465 that a bought about 5 years ago.

until last week it was powering my E4300 @ 3.4Ghz with a 7800GTX and a few drives.

Just got a Corsair 620w for an upgrade so it's in the other PC, opty 165 @2.5Ghz with 7800GTX

5 years and still going strong

Thanks :). Is the Corsair 520W 'future proof'? I hear people saying sometimes that 600-800W is the new sweet spot when it comes to PSUs. What is a good wattage to have? Say for my current machine (sig) with an 8800GTX.

Cheers

i chosen the, Akasa Ultra Quiet 400W Paxpower Active PFC ATX2.0 PSU - Black Nickel with Blue LED Fan

but i dunno if it will be suitable for you, i chose it because it's a realiable brand, offers all the power i need, and my new comps scene is blue LED

FSP are poor power supplys, the Epsilon units are the champions of ripple - often rippling outside the allowed ATX specification.

A lot of GameXtreme and StealthXtreme (one model, I think the 1010w but don't quote me is a 3Y) are OEM'd Epsilon units and again they ripple. They're cheap for a reason.

Only trusted brands I would consider are:

PC P&C
SilverStone (Not the 850 strider or Zeus though)
Etasis (OEM for SilverStone)
Seasonic / Corsair

I would also go single rail over split rails, even though it takes a lot to make an OCP kick in on a rail. Split rails are just a marketing ploy of more = better. The only reason split rails were introduced was because Intel deemed it unsafe to have more than 20amps pulled from one rail. So it's for safety alone and no other reason.

That's sort of put me off the OCZ PSUs now, what do you mean by ripple?

The Corsair 520W is the only PSU is my price range but the OCZ was a pretty good price for what it seemed to be. What troubles could I have with an OCZ?

Thanks
