Hi All,

Do you think an Antec Truepower 380W psu would be enough for the following.?

Intel i3 540 @ Stock
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H
4GB ram
1 hard disk.?

I brought the above from OC a short while ago and have just got round to building it but it wont get to the BIOS screen it just keeps powercycling :(

The system and cpu fans spin intermittently then it power loops, ive tried a bios reset to no avail, im just wondering if something is DOA.?

More than enough.

i3 are a lower power CPU with tdp in the 70s. Ram uses just a few watts per stick and a hard drive <10 watts. You probably won't be using half of what that PSU can deliver. I reckon that will not pull more than about 100w in stock trim.

I wonder if the bios reset was successful. How did you perform it?

Something could be dead I suppose. Do you have an alternative PSU?

Going to try psu from machine im on now, 650W corsair.
BIOS reset using jumper after pulling power cable out and leaving it for 5 minutes.

TIA

Hmm :(
Tried 2 more known good psu's to no avail same thing happens.
I've removed all other peripherals so I'm now only running with the following:-
Motherboard, CPU, RAM, and one hard disk.

I'm wondering if its worth reseating the CPU.? brb.

It would sill be fine for a basic card. A 5450 would probably be fine while keeping a bit if headroom. Not sure it would be worth it though .

Poppycock! 380w would be fine for a half decent midrange GPU. 57xx, 68xx maybe a 460 or a 560. Good couple of hundred watts spare considering the rest of the rig.
