I don't know hardly anything about PSU but I have a question

If I brought a 500 W PSU would it constantly use 500 W or would it only use the power consumed by my computer (just under 400 W once my computer has been upgraded)

you may be thinking why don't I just buy a 400 W, But im strapped for cash and buying a 500 W PSU is cheaper for me then buying a 400 W PSU
 
The computer in idle takes a small amaount of energy you can reach that 400w on benchmarking or under full load playing a modern game.
So no it doesnt take the 500w all the time.
 
The pc only draws the amount needed, so you won't be pulling 500w all the time.

My PC pulls 330w at full load - i7 2700K and GTX 670 Gigabyte WF card are the main parts.

What is the spec your looking at?

The ram will run at 1333mhz instead of 1600mhz on your board.
