PSU Struggling. Need an upgrade

Hi,

i recently bought a second HD5770 graphics card and when i turn the computer on i can hear both graphics cards struggling. When i take the power out of one of them the other one's fan speeds up. When both graphics cards are plugged in the display wont come on.

Here is my system spec:

i7-2600K

ASrock z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

The PSU i am currently using is 700W. i assumed this would be plenty to both cards.

i am right in saying its my PSU causing the problem arnt i?

can sombody reccomend a PSU that will run this machine with no problems!

A psu that costs £6.15?!

Probably need about 550 watts or so for that i'd say, someone can spec one as i'm not with it with psus.

PS I would definitely remove the second card until you replace the psu otherwise you could be buying more than a new psu.

imo that's a really bad psu. no offence though. change it asap before running two cards. even I would say not to run a single one. yu at least need a 80+ bronze certified 500 Watts psu.

Well i bought a custom alienware in 2005 and the psu came with it!

i shall be upgrading asap! haha

HiPro is a good manufacturer. But you'd better make sure these units are genuine and have warranty. Another important thing is that it's likely an EPS12V design whose multi-12V-rail configuration is ... not so SLI-friendly.

arrived today and i just installed it and i am still having the same problem. no picture when both ghx cards are plugged in and when i take the power out of one the other one fires up. i have tried both cards on there own and they work fine.

what could be happening here?

Yes but I have my doubts about it. I think it might be nackered. I have another one I will try. Didn't think the bridge had anything todo with it though? Hopefully this will sort it!
