So just recently I've been gaming and hearing a slight buzz/grind sound from the PSU (Seasonic S12ii 520w bronze), when I pause the game it goes. I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and replace it as I know it's an old unit now.

Specs:

R5 2600
Gigabyte GA A320M-H
16GB DDR4
6700XT
2 HDD's
6 fans

Was thinking about 650w, I don't want to spend massive amounts, so less than £80 preferably. Fully modular would be a huge plus, braided cables as this one has them old chunky things. Not spaghetti but not far off.

Also what happened to Super Flower? I can't find them on OCUK.

I would go 750 or 850 if I were you. 650 is borderline for higher-end cards, so 750/850 just gives you that bit of headroom for the future.

The price difference is not normally very large and many PSU ranges start at 750 now.

Something like this I'd say.

MSI MAG A750GL ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1 750W 80 Plus Gold

750w gold rated latest ATX and PCIe standards. Modular cables. And one of the fewer models that has a decent amount of connections. Some are quite limited at the lower power end. Looks like 3x 8-pin PCIe and then 4x 6-pin. A 12v2x6, 2x motherboard and 1x CPU. Only a 120mm fan (but it is Fluid-Dynamic Bearing Fan).

£99.95. :)

Cheers, I did look at the MAG's. Little bit more than I wanted to spend, so will look at other options, any input on be quiet's line? Either the dark or pro power as they're higher end.

If you're buying from OCUK and in order to meet your criteria I'd be looking at this:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £93.98 (includes delivery: £3.99)

It reviews very well and is A + rated on the SPL tier list:

Alternatively, you can find the Montech Century II 850W for spot on £80 which is rated as - A but is still a very good power supply.

For reference, the above listed MSI A750GL is a lower quality power supply than both and only achieves a B rating. It's unfortunately priced for a 750W right now, the superior MSI MPG A850G was £99 not all that long ago.

I've not heard of Montech until the other week, are they their own brand or a subsidiary like Asus/Asrock?

I'll have a look at that one above.

I was going to post the C850 core originally but when I selected it, it said it was no longer available.

They're their own company, but like most they don't make their own power supplies and instead use various OEM's.

The Montech Century II is made by XWY, the NZXT model is made by CWT as are both of the aforementioned MSI supplies.

Montech make some really nice cases too as an aside.

I wouldn't go for a 650w unit. That size has always been in a sort of no mans land where it's too much for a low powered system yet not enough for anything that demands a decent bit of power. Everything seems to be getting more power hungry these days, especially gpu's, so I would be looking at a 850w psu just to cover all, or near enough all bases. Above all don't cheap out, buy the very best you can afford as it will last you years and through several upgrades. Most high quality psu's have a 10 year warranty these days but make sure it has all the connectors that you need because with the introduction of this horrible new high power cable some psu's only come with a pair of pci-e cables now.

This is good advice, I would also do your best to avoid buying a GPU that needs one - your next logical GPU upgrade would be the 9070XT, and you'll need the new fire hazard cable for some models, not for others, find one that requires the PCI-E only.

I'd be going for a good quality 850W unit, as it will handle your next GPU in all likelyhood.
