I need to spec a PSU with the following requirements.

2 x PCI-e 8 pin connectors.
2 x PCI-e 6 pin connectors.
minimum 5 x SATA power connectors (more would be better).
minimum 650W, probably 750W to be sure.

Single RAIL (read somewhere dual rail can be bad?)

Able to cope with
3 x SATA HDD
2 x SATA SSD
2 x 4870 , or 2 x GTX280 or 2x 4870x2
Q9550 CPU
and all the rest of the regular bits in a case (optical/FDD etc).

Any suggestions ?

?

Anyway still looking for a PSU, I can't seem to find a single PSU under 150 quid (or under 1000W) that has more than 1 8pin PCI-e connector.

The Thermaltake toughpower series seems to have the required amount of connectors etc (the 1000W has 3x 6pin and 3x 8pin).

Any other suggestions for me please? I am really looking at 2x gtx280 cards in SLi now, so 750W is minimum. I'd also really like to keep PSU budget around £100-00.

My Corsair HX520 came with 2x 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors.

Thanks for that ! I didn't even know the 6+2 plug existed (seems it's been a while since I did a proper upgrade).

I quite like the look of the 750W Corsair , only problem with it is that it is not modular. No 750W modular it seems is available.

Anyway now I know to look for the 6+2 connector, I can get back to researching other brands.

I just found out that a SLi solution on 2x gtx280 needs a minimum of 1200W !!!!

I am heading back to an ATi solution I think. Thats just over the top.

Thats wrong I think. I am sure a 750W would do it:
