PTFE tape?

When doing my occasional plumbing job at home I use PTFE tape on the compression fitting threads to enable tightening. Admittedly I believe that there is a slight thread taper on fittings for copper pipe but does anyone use this in their watercooling loops with compression fittings?

It's not really "needed", the O-rings on the fittings should make a decent seal by them self but if your a belt and braces type by all means go for it, be warned though if a bit breaks off and gets into the loop then it can block blocks and cause issues for the pump.

You shouldn't need ptfe tape on any part of a water loop. The g1/4 / 1/4 bspp threads rely on an oring or dowty washer, while compression knuts only clamp the hose to the barb.

Though it does help on leaky reservoirs apparently :)

If you do want to use it keep an eye on temps and flow, a stray bit of tape will easily clog a block.
