PUBG Upgrade

Hi,

I need a PC upgrade to play this game as my current one struggles with load times and it gets a bit frustrating. Plus I've just played it on my friends gaming rig and I'm a tad jealous of his ultra settings where as I'm playing on very low settings! I'm currently only running on a 1080p monitor too so doesn't require 4k.

I don't really have that much free time so I'm reluctant at spending too much, but would want a PC that lasts at least a couple of years before another upgrade.

I'm hoping my PSU would be sufficient for a decent card. I've looked at the 1070's as my interest but do I really need this card if PUBG is the only game I will really be playing? If it will increase the performance a lot then I would be happy to go down this route.

In terms of processor, I've read the I7 is the better v's Ryzan. I wouldn't mind a 4.0 GHz processor as my current is pretty weak and struggles.

Can I reuse my CPU cooler or should I upgrade to something such as a Corsair H60?

What sort of Ram should I be looking at? obviously it would be DDR4 but there are so many different MHz I just want one that will be average and efficient.

I'm looking to spend less than £1000 on upgrades. Ideally I would prefer it to be closer to £500 for the time I will get to play games, but that is not even going to cover a 1070 and if needs must I will have to purchase finance to deliver my gaming needs.

As you can see from the photo I have two large fans, one at the bottom and one white one in the top left

Also would I get at least £100 back for selling the bits I would exchange from my old PC or am I being too optimistic?

Many thanks for reading

Bare in mind that PUBG isnt well optimised yet ... Having said that , latest ryzens smash your current FX GPU .
A mobo/CPU/ram change can gain you 5-10 FPS with keeping your current GPU.
Worth walking some Vs YouTube videos . Really hits home

Then you've also got Intel finally doing a good job and even non K chips are damn good. Building two rigs for friends , i5 8400 and Ryzen 1600- both stunning chips thought Intel prices have been inflated

I didn't even realize that my GPU is still even considered okay till i googled some. I would prefer to upgrade it mind to something a little better as I've had it 2+ years now.

I play everything on very low. It's the load times and everything. I often only get into the game when the plane starts rather than actually in the lobby. My friends PC he's in the lobby before the timer even counts down.

Obviously I will be waiting till January now to purchase but wouldn't mind some preparation to know what to look for

You could get about £75 for the GTX 770. And £75 for the RAM. CPU+motherboard, maybe £75 together. Keep the rest (PSU, case, drives, cooler) for now.

Just yesterday a friend upgraded from 770 to 1060 and was really happy (he plays PUBG).

Sounds like the game is on the HDD not the SSD?

Intel:
Z370 motherboard, 16GB DDR4 3000MHz+, i5-8400 or i5-8600K or i7-8700 or i7-8700K (depends how much you decide to spend), GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB or better.

AMD:
B350/X370 motherboard, 16GB DDR4 300MHz+, Ryzen 1600 or 1700, GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB or better.

If you want the best board for Ryzen, Taichi x370 and for Intel z370 Aorus 7 in my view

Gtx mini was one of the cheapest a long with cheapest gigabyte card , want to spend little more , go for it :)
Your cooler. Might need to buy or ask manufacture for AM4 brackets , if you go Intel do you still have the box with fittings ?

And since you've got an antec case, seen the new ones :D

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £184.08 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Thanks again and haha, my case isn't antec though it's just a cheap bitfenix one. It is windowless though so i may have to change ;)

Ah apologies mate, mis read the PSU for the case. Some cracking cases coming around around £40-55 make . CM Case Maker 5 I think is £44 and Phanteks p300 is £55 with glass

And all with lovely dust filters :D
