Ok saw this tonight and have to say i'd call it average.
IMO the acting was great, Johnny Depps Dillinger was very entertaining, the sets where great and the story was well adapted. HOWEVER, I hate this 'documentary' style filming Michael Mann has adopted. It started of in Collatrol, changed Miama Vice from a great film to an average film and has now done the same with Public Enemies.
The guns sound like cap guns in some places, some of the filming looks like it was shot on a sony handy cam and was jerking all over the place which ruined the immersion in a lot of the gun fights and about 2/3 of the way through it got really dull for a while.
All in all i'd give it 6 out of 10. I'll probably buy it and watch it again on blu ray but in my mind it ruined what could have potentially been a very good film.
