I've watched the first 4 episodes so far and i like it but every now and then there are exchanges between characters where you can tell they are just saying the lines they've memorised, especially on the stereotypical ones that just don't fit. Maybe it's just me but those moments really pull you out.
It has a stellar cast so i've got to think that the problem is in the way it's put together somehow.
Set in the early 1960's in New York City's Public Morals Division, where cops walk the line between morality and criminality as the temptations that come from dealing with all kinds of vice can get the better of them.
