Well im off to Edinburgh tomorow at around 2pm and will be spending most of the day in places with alcohol hopefully.

Any locals that can recomend some decent pubs that would be ideal to take a lass to? Wont be staying to go clubbing so dont need to know about good clubs.

I think rose street,i think thats the street, had quite a lot of pubs on it?

Rose street is good yes - you'll find Standing Order in the Omni Centre (next to the Playhouse) is a good place to start. Plenty of eating establishments there ;)

The Living Room is also good (expensive though) its just above the Candy Bar

Enjoy your day in the capital

Hi you!

Well i wont be eating,i will probably grab a wopper meal before leaving queen street lol.

I want to keep it cheap,i dont have a lot of money until payday this friday.

Basically looking for somewhere that wont be jumping, can get a nice seat where we can chat and the prices are decent.

If your taking your girl then Standing Order / Lloyds Bar is going to cost only a little more than the fast food option your planning - they've usually got deals on and the drink is cheap, you'll easily get a seat in the afternoon and its going to impress more than Bk's / Maccy D's

If its just drinks your after then Rose Street is gonna be your best bet imo

The Standing Order is on George St (parallel and 1 street north of Rose St). Rose St is like a pedestrian shopping/pubbing lane between Princes St and George St.

Lloyds is over at the Omni. Both are Witherspoons owned and well cheap.

I shal head to the thing near the omni thing.....well i'll ask her to take me to the playhouse and then maybe head to rose street. She works in harvey nicols so i know pretty much around where she works and princes street and wester hailes lol.

Im mad with it justnow so will hopefully be lilke this tomorow.

Frankensteins in Edinburgh is pretty good. Much better than the Glasgow one!

Frankensteins is indeed pretty good and last time I was in the music was set at a decent level for chatting, however it is up on George IV Bridge so a bit away from Rose Street. If you do find yourself up that way then Bar Kohl (just across the road) is worth going to for the range of interesting vodkas and shots. Anywhere down the Grassmarket is usually pretty decent for a night out but not necessarily quiet if that is an aim.

Bit of a difference between those two, I've got to admit that Western Hailes isn't the first place I'd be taking a tourist to Edinburgh if I could help it. :)

Wheres this bridge? I will take a walk around as i have done before and look out for these places.

I only know wester hailes is where the lass is from that is the only reason i want to be associated with that place!

George IV bridge is between the Royal Mile and Bristo Square, simplest way to get to it is probably to just follow the Mound up and then you walk straight onto it. If you are coming out of Waverly then head left and up, not very hard to find it although even passing through the Royal Mile for a couple of minutes will have you assaulted by people trying to sell you shows to go see. :)

Thank god for live.com lol.

I have been up the george IV bridge countless times, spent quite a while down in the grassmarket aswell.

Whats the area the opposite way, like towards haymarket? Stay away from here?

Think it will be up at that bride, rose street and the grassmarket.

There isn't anything hugely much around Haymarket itself in terms of pubs (or perhaps I should say I've not been in too many round there), if you walk along Princes Street then shortly before reaching Haymarket you can turn left to go onto Lothian Road which has a few clubs and pubs which aren't too bad. I wouldn't particularly say to stay away from there but I think if you have a limited amount of time then George IV Bridge, the Grassmarket and Rose Street might make for a better use of your time. :)

Frankensteins is horrid and far too loud on a Wednesday night, don't know if it is the same other nights or not. Might be okay during the day. The DJ is a girl who can't mix...

Think frankensteins is off the list but im gonna wait till im in town and then txt her saying im nearly there and head to a pub up that george place for a pint! :D

I will be staying till around 10pm i think so i can get a bus home from Glasgow. :(

Well we only went to a few pubs. First random one was loggie bairds or something. Was quiet and £3.15 a pint:eek: then into the worlds end? further down the royal mile(apparently it was ont he tele) and then finally to the standing order on george street.

Gonna be going back in this sunday to go clubbing since i have been told about a late bus i can get back.

The World's End pub is/was famous because a couple of ladies was murdered after drinking in it about 30 years ago if memory serves. No idea about Logie Bairds but that is pretty pricey even for Edinburgh. Have fun on Sunday, if I may make a suggestion it would be to avoid The Opal Lounge on George Street as overly poncey but other people seem to like it. :)

The beer at the World's End pub in Edinburgh is to die for!

I hope thats not a bad pun:p

Was quite cosy in the worlds end, sitting in a wee corner side by side = win.

I will find out what club it is she wants to go to as i never caught that today. It was basically "your coming on Sunday"......cuddle....on the bus.
