hi guys ive recently built my gaming pc and its all working fine (touch wood)

its relativly quiet

but theres this kinda like faint but deep pulsing/vibrating noise coming from my pc somewhere but i cant work out where

i hold my ear up to all the individual componets but i cant make out where its coming from

the problem is it kinda comes and goes so i cant really pin point what it is by diconnecting stuff

does this kinda noise have any usuall suspects or anyone have any ideas about what could be the cause

or is this normal for my case

i have the computer right next to me on the same lvl as my monitor so i can hear pretty much everything my computer does :)

any advice will be much appreciated

all the best

cheers

If vibrating then check if everything is screwed on tightly. On mine, if I don't do this = vibrations :(

But since its a new rig I'd give it sometime to settle in.

My guess would be the PSU is being loaded too much or is faulty :/ this would normally cause a buzzing sound...

My guess is the hard drives resonating :D

If it is making a noise, try pressing the hard drives and seeing if the noise stops.

Pulsing suggests two high speed fans next to each other causing a beating noise as their airflow inteferes with each other. Test by turning one of them off for a bit. If this is the problem, the easiest solution is to run one at a slightly different voltage to the first. If they run at slightly different speeds you wont get the pulsing effect

The above is all possible too, but the word pulsing suggests the above to me. Good luck

oh my god i was thinking i needed to buy a new psu

jonj678 ur a fckin genius

i juust disconnected 1 of my noctua front intake fans at the time of the pulsing

then guess what the pulsing instanly stopped

thank you very much jonj678 :)

i cant tell u how happy i am :)

Cant help but smile at that, feels good to be helpful. Pulsing was a good word :)
How does one at 12V, one at 7V go? Shouldn't make the noise, but you'll have more airflow than just using one

Mb/cpu remains fun Plec. Ive been offered an rma for both, but not for the ram. So thats something. Ive asked to be upgraded to marginally better hardware, and gigabyte rather than asus, as an apology for for being so rubbish for so long, waiting to hear back from that. We'll see

I've had the beats/pulsing problem before. I have found using these allowed me to run the fans at the same speed without the problem.

i had those rubber things already on my fans jak but still the problem was there

i tried running a fan at alower rpm and it was still there to a degree

i think my fans may be more sceptible to the pulsing as they are noctua low pressure fans

anyway thx once more to jon
